Cure for my dying heart

"Wake up, wake up!" shouted my Mom.
I opened my eyes and saw my crying mother. I was lying in the hospital bed and being watched by couple of nurses. I did not know why am I sitting here and being observed by some obnoxious nurses. My Mom told me that I fainted during the reunion dinner. I was very worried because the next day was scheduled to be the Greenridge arts fiesta. So I just went home around 1 am and hope for the best in our performance.
We were privileged to perform as an entertainer for the guest at the busker's corner. It was organized by Mr. Lee, the head of performing arts department. We prepared 20 songs but we were only required to play 19 songs.
The next morning, I arrived at school but not as early as I had planned. I was scolded by my band mates namely, Ao Cheng, Ky, Hafiz, and our former guitarist Daniel "jackd" for being late for our rehearsal and our briefing. It took us 40 minutes to settle our argument but eventually we worked it all out.
"Five minutes to Showtime…" the organizer anxiously told us.
We played like we never played before. It was a mixture of our sweat and our punk and funk music. That makes it so special and memorable moment for me. The whole crowd was on their feet when we played "the Jesus of suburbia" by the Greenday, a ten minutes of head banging punk rock music.
There was a part of our show when our front man Hafiz, kneeled down and declared his love to his girlfriend. We were playing the song "smokescreen" by the flying blind and it really made the atmosphere suitable for his declaration. The girl blushed and became a fresh red tomato in front of the whole crowd. She was with her family and her mom’s face just can’t be drawn.
We took some photos and some video. We just can’t explain our feelings that we felt that day. We felt like we were in drugs and sniffing marijuana.
We ended our performance by singing our final song called “time of your life” by Greenday. It is a slow instrumental song which is good on occasions like graduation day. We picked that song because we are trying to give the kind of atmosphere that the audience may think that our performance is memorable. Our teachers congratulated us for being so patient in our performance.
